What we do
The Engine Cowl launched in 2025 with a simple goal: to provide the latest news and analysis about the airline industry.
That said, we don’t aim to deliver exhaustive coverage of breaking news. Plenty of aviation news outlets do that already.
Instead, we focus on bringing you only the most engaging and insightful news and analysis each day.
Why is it called The Engine Cowl?
An engine cowl is a removable panel that may be opened for mechanics to access an aircraft engine.
In other words, our aim is to “look under the hood” at what’s happening inside the airline industry.
What we cover
We focus on the airline business.
That includes airline strategy, fleet, network, revenue, and financial performance - plus the latest tech that enables it all.
What we don’t cover
We don’t report on aerospace, hospitality, or aviation finance. There are already several excellent publications providing coverage of those sectors.
We don’t report on the five longest routes operated by a CRJ-900.
