airBaltic has announced its summer 2026 season schedule, with the new season starting on March 29, 2026. The Latvian carrier’s new routes include three connections from Riga Airport (RIX) and Tallinn Airport (TLL) each, and, with the beginning of the new season, airBaltic will open services between RIX and Kaunas Airport (KUN), becoming one of the few airlines that serve all three commercial airports in Lithuania.

On September 2, 2025, airBaltic unveiled that its summer 2026 season schedule includes six new routes, three each from RIX and TLL. From the former, the Latvian airline will launch five weekly flights to KUN and Oulu Airport (OUL), and two weekly departures to Antalya Airport (AYT).

Currently, OUL’s only non-domestic flights are operated by Greece’s Aegean Airlines, which offers a once-per-week hop to Chania International Airport (CHQ) and is a seasonal charter, and Discover Airlines. On June 9, the Lufthansa Group’s leisure carrier operated its first connection between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and OUL, and, according to Visit Oulu, the flight stops at the airport as part of Discover Airlines’ flights to Kittilä Airport (KTT). From January 2026, OUL will have direct connections between FRA and OUL without stopping at KTT.

The only other airline to currently operate flights from all three commercial Lithuanian airports, namely KUN, Palanga Airport (PLQ), and Vilnius Airport (VNO), is Ryanair.

Meanwhile, airBaltic’s three new routes from TLL include flights to Athens Airport (ATH), Hamburg Airport (HAM), and Vienna Airport (VIE). During this summer season, the Latvian airline has already operated flights from ATH to RIX, from HAM to RIX and VNO, and from VIE to RIX.

It had plans to launch flights from TLL to HAM, yet, due to delays related to the maintenance of its Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines, which power the airline’s Airbus A220-300 aircraft, those plans were thrown out the window.

On January 2, 2025, airBaltic announced that the engine-related issues had forced the carrier to cancel up to 4,670 flights during the summer 2025 season, affecting 19 routes. Some of these routes will be present on the carrier’s route map during the upcoming summer season.

This includes the aforementioned TLL to HAM flights, as well as itineraries between RIX and Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ), Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG), and Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport (EVN). The former two will have two departures per week, while airBaltic’s aircraft will depart on the latter route thrice per week.

Lastly, 30 existing routes, 20 from RIX, two from TLL, six from VNO, and one from Tampere Vallikallio Airport (TMP), will have additional frequencies, “providing its customers with even more travel options.” In total, airBaltic’s summer 2026 season network should span “nearly 110 routes across all its bases, representing an approximately 7% increase compared to this summer.”

Per planespotters.net, airBaltic currently has 60 A220-300s in its fleet, six of which, registered as YL-AAO, YL-AAS, YL-ABJ, YL-ABK, YL-ABL, and YL-CSD, are parked. The almost-30-year-old airline ended Q2 2025 with a net profit of €27.6 million ($32.1 million), yet it suffered a six-month net loss of €1.7 million ($1.9 million). Its H1 2025 revenue climbed to €349.6 million ($406.9 million), growing 3% year-on-year (YoY), as airBaltic welcomed 3.9 million passengers during the period (up 8.7% YoY).
