Breeze Airways goes international, departs for its first flights to Mexico
Breeze Airways will launch another four international routes in the coming months, two fewer than it had initially planned.
Breeze Airways has officially launched its first-ever scheduled international services, with the airline beginning services from Norfolk, Virginia, the United States, to Cancun, Mexico. Its second international route from North Charleston, South Carolina, should depart for Cancun, Mexico, on January 17.
On January 10, 2026, Breeze Airways departed on its first-ever scheduled international flight, with its Airbus A220-300, registered as N219BZ, taking off from Norfolk International Airport (ORF) toward Cancun International Airport (CUN) at 12:36 local time (UTC -5).
A week later, on January 17, the airline will begin flying between Charleston International Airport (CHS) and CUN. Both flights will be operated once per week – on Saturdays – and will be seasonal-only.
Breeze Airways confirmed that it will launch international services in 2026 on September 25, 2025. At the time, it said that it was “the first airline in more than 10 years to undergo” a rigorous process to become an international airline based in the US.
The next international routes to launch will be flights from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD) to CUN, which, similar to ORF-CUN and CHS-CUN, will be a once-per-week seasonal departure.
MSY-CUN is launching on February 7, while PVD to CUN is scheduled to begin on February 14.
In addition to CUN, it will also offer seasonal services to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
In March, the carrier’s flights from Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) should begin taking off toward PUJ. The international route from RDU will also be seasonal, departing on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
However, Cirium’s Diio Mi showed that Breeze Airways has not scheduled any flights between RDU and Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ), two additional international routes it said it would begin when it announced its international expansion in September 2025.
The carrier’s booking engine does not allow passengers to book flights on the two routes, suggesting that “Seasonal flights [will] return soon.” The TPA-MBJ route was scheduled to begin on February 11, while the RDU-MBJ itinerary had a scheduled start date of March 5.

In September 2025, David Neeleman, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Breeze Airways, said that the airline was excited “to bring the same convenience and elevated experience they love about our domestic flights to three exciting new international destinations.”
Sticking to its colors of providing direct services from underserved airports, Breeze Airways will only compete with Spirit Airlines and Southwest Airlines on flights to MSY to CUN and with American Airlines on the RDU-PUJ route.
The other routes, namely ORF-CUN, CHS-CUN, and PVD-CUN, will be competition-free.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) approved Breeze Airways’ plans to fly internationally in June 2025. In its application, the carrier asked the Department to approve scheduled services to airports located in countries with which the US has Open Skies agreements.
Breeze Airways’ international network will still be fairly limited. Currently, its international operations are scheduled to peak between May and July with seven weekly departures, including three on Wednesdays and four on Saturdays.
During the three months, it will only have four international itineraries: CHS-CUN, MSY-CUN, ORF-CUN, and RDU-PUJ, with the PVD-CUN connection running until April 25, per Cirium’s Diio Mi.
