Delta Air Lines has announced that it will add a new route and additional capacity on its network from the mainland United States to Hawaii, confirming that flights between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Kahului Airport (OGG) will begin in December.
New and returning Hawaii routes
In an announcement on February 13, 2026, Delta Air Lines said that beginning December 19, it will launch flights between MSP and OGG. Operated daily during the peak holiday and spring break periods, and five-times-per-week otherwise, the itinerary will be operated with an Airbus A330-300.

In addition, the airline will resume flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). The Hawaii-bound route will be operated with the A330-300, flying daily during peak demand in December, reverting to four weekly departures for the remainder of the winter season.
Cirium’s Diio Mi showed that during the winter 2024/2025 season, Delta Air Lines had four weekly A330-300 flights between BOS and HNL, transitioning to daily in March and April 2025. The route did not return for the next winter season.
In April 2025, Delta Air Lines began using the Boeing 767-300ER to fly the itinerary.
When it did operate BOS-HNL, the average monthly load factors were below 70% during the winter 2024/2025 season, according to data from the Department of Transportation (DOT), which was compiled by Cirium’s Diio Mi.
“The returning route reopens a long-haul leisure link between the Northeast and the islands, offering customers a single-flight escape to O‘ahu’s iconic shoreline, cultural landmarks, and vibrant city-meets-beach experience.”
Hawaiian Airlines was the other airline flying BOS-HNL, ending the year-round route in November 2025. During the 12-month period ending November 2025, the carrier’s average load factors were 79.8%.
Additional frequencies to Hawaii
In addition to launching MSP-OGG and resuming BOS-HNL, Delta Air Lines will deploy additional capacity to Hawaii.
From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the airline will add a second, thrice-weekly itinerary from January 4, 2027, through March 2027. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)-HNL will grow from thrice-weekly to daily from November 9, while New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to HNL will become a daily flight from April 1.
The route was also flown daily between March and August 2025, Cirium’s Diio Mi shows.
From Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), Delta Air Lines will bring forward flights to Kona International Airport (KOA) to start from November 9, compared to last year’s start of December 20, 2025, and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to KOA, the airline will upgauge from the A321neo to the 767-300ER from November 9.
