Emirates grows Airbus A350-900 order book with further 8 orders
Emirates' total backlog now numbers 375 aircraft.
Emirates has announced that it has ordered an additional eight Airbus A350-900 aircraft, further bolstering its order book for the aircraft, which has now grown to 73 units. Announced during the Dubai Airshow 2025, this was the airline’s second order during the event.
On November 19, 2025, Emirates said that it ordered an additional eight A350-900s, boosting its order book for the type to 73, which includes 13 already delivered widebodies. The airline said that Airbus should deliver the eight aircraft in 2031.
According to Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Emirates, the A350-900, which began flying with Emirates in November 2024, has provided the carrier with additional capacity and has enabled it to introduce its latest in-flight products to more passengers.
“We look forward [to] working closely with Airbus on the delivery of our remaining aircraft, including the new units that we have ordered today.”

With the latest A350-900 order, Emirates’ backlog now numbers 375 aircraft, split between 60 A350-900, 10 Boeing 777F, 270 777-9, and 35 787 aircraft, split between 20 787-8 and 15 787-10s.
The carrier bolstered its backlog with an additional 65 777-9 aircraft during the first day of the Dubai Airshow on November 17, which was also the event’s first order. However, the latest order for the 777-9 includes options to convert the 777-9s to the 777-8 or the 777-10.
While the latter has not been officially announced by Boeing, Emirates said that it will provide “strong backing for Boeing’s feasibility study to develop the 777-10.”
Al Maktoum added that Emirates’ backlog, which has grown to 375 aircraft, is a “massive investment in our future, the future of flying better for our customers, as well as the future of aviation in terms of job and value creation.”
Even with the latest A350-900 deal, Emirates would still not be the airline with the largest order book at this year’s Dubai Airshow. That title is currently held by flydubai, its close partner, which has signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Airbus and Boeing for up to 250 A321neo (100 firm, 100 options) and 150 737 MAX aircraft (75 firm, 75 options), totaling 400 aircraft, if all options are exercised.
