Etihad Airways has confirmed previous reports that the airline had been eyeing the A330neo as well as additional A350 orders, with the airline ordering six A330-900 and 10 A350 aircraft, split between seven A350-1000 and three A350Fs. It will also lease nine A330-900 and four A320neo aircraft from Avolon.

During the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, Airbus secured its first commercial aircraft order at the event, with Etihad Airways ordering six A330-900, seven A350-1000, and three A350F aircraft.

According to Antonoaldo Neves, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Etihad Airways, the A330-900 would bring “the right combination of efficiency and flexibility for our regional and mid-range growth, while the A350-1000 continues to deliver exceptional performance on our long-haul network.”

“The A350F freighter adds significant capability to our cargo division as global demand continues to expand.”

While it already operates the A350-1000 and had previous orders for the A350F, it had never operated either variant of the A330neo, the A330-800, or the A330-900. Prior to the pandemic, it retired the majority of its A330ceo fleet, which is the predecessor of the two aforementioned types.

According to Airbus’ orders and deliveries records, as of October 31, Etihad Airways had orders for seven A350F, and operated nine A350-1000 with a further 11 in its backlog. The airline’s other widebodies include nine A380, nine Boeing 777-300ER, five 777F, 37 787-9, and 10 787-10 aircraft.

The order could be announced during the upcoming Dubai Airshow.

This is the European planemaker’s first commercial aircraft order at this year’s Dubai Airshow, with Airbus having announced a single helicopter order for up to five H160s from Bristow Group on the first day of the event.

Boeing and Embraer, meanwhile, had secured three and two orders yesterday, respectively, including Emirates’ order for an additional 65 777-9s, as well as a promise to provide backing for a study for a potential 777-10, on November 17.

Ethiopian Airlines and Air Senegal ordered a total of 20 737 MAX 8s, and Helvetic Airways bought three Embraer E195-E2, with five options.

Air Côte d’Ivoire also ordered up to 12 E175s, split between a firm order for four and options for eight more for the older-generation regional jet.
