Eurowings has officially inaugurated flights with its new business class product, which replaces the traditional, European-style business class with two-two rows that include seats customized for Lufthansa Group’s point-to-point airline.

On November 22, 2025, Eurowings’ first flight with its new business class product, marketed as Premium BIZ, took off from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) to Dubai International Airport (DXB), marking the debut of the new and atypical business class layout.

Instead of the usual European business class, which includes three seats on reach row with the middle seat blocked off, Premium BIZ has four seats per row, split between two seats on each side of the aircraft.

Interestingly, Eurowings said that its new business class cabin is “a groundbreaking test for future cabin concepts on medium-haul and potentially even long-haul routes.”

That could also mean tests for other Lufthansa Group airlines. When Eurowings unveiled the new seats in May 2025, it said that the trials “will also provide other airlines in the Lufthansa Group with important insights for the future configuration of new aircraft fleets.”

The first Premium BIZ aircraft, an Airbus A320neo, registered as D-AENI, departed BER at 08:07 local time (UTC +1) and arrived at DXB at 17:10 local time (UTC +4), according to Flightradar24.

The flight tracking service also showed that the A320neo was inactive between November 17 and November 21 after it landed at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) on November 17. Four days later, it was moved to BER, and on the following day, it departed for DXB.

Since then, it has exclusively flown between BER and DXB, and is scheduled to fly the route on November 25, Flightradar24 records showed.

Jens Bischof, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurowings, said that the Premium BIZ seats send a “strong signal for bold innovations within the value segment,” adding that “premium comfort does not have to be limited to expensive long-haul products – it can also be made possible on an efficient short- and medium-haul aircraft.”

“The fully booked inaugural flight to Dubai clearly shows that we are striking a chord with our customers.”

Eurowings highlighted that the Premium BIZ seats, developed by Italy-based Geven, were customized with the airline’s colors and feature more personal space, a reclining leg rest, charging ports, a pillow, a blanket, and a hot towel. The seats also have a cocktail table, which “adds additional surface space, while a practical storage compartment provides room for headphones, books, or tablets.”

Upon boarding, Premium BIZ passengers are served an aperitif with nuts or olives and sparkling wine, while the main meal is served on porcelain crockery.

However, the Premium BIZ seats are available only as an upgrade after a passenger books a BIZclass fare. The airline’s A320neo has eight Premium BIZ seats at the front of the aircraft, with a traditional European business class cabin with seven rows being placed just behind the Premium BIZ seats.

The BIZclass cabin is configured in a three-three layout with the middle seats blocked off.

As such, unlike Eurowings’ typical A320neo aircraft with 180 seats, the Premium BIZ-equipped A320neos have 156 seats, which excludes the blocked off BIZclass seats, or 170 if including those middle seats that are not bookable for passengers.
