Brazil-based GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (GOL) has confirmed that it will take delivery of up to five Airbus A330-900 aircraft, with the announcement coming a few months after Abra Group, its parent holding company, announced an agreement with Avolon for the lease of up to seven A330-900s.

In a notice to Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission (Comissão de Valores Mobiliários, CVM) on March 6, 2026, GOL confirmed that it will welcome up to five A330-900 aircraft. The quintet will be delivered sometime in 2026, “subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions precedent.”
“The incorporation of the A330-900neo aircraft into GOL's airline fleet is aligned with Abra Group's broader strategic planning, aimed at expanding operations in the region and internationally.”
Planespotters.net shows that the Brazilian airline will be taking over A330-900s that were operated by another Brazilian carrier, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (Azul).
Azul dumped the A330-900s as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which it emerged from on February 25. GOL itself had been undergoing a court-protected restructuring, exiting the process in June 2025.
Nevertheless, Azul’s A330-900s had 34 business and 264 economy class seats, per planespotters.net, with Airbus delivering the aircraft between 2019 and 2020.
Abra Group said that the aircraft “offer a capacity of more than 290 seats, including a Business Class cabin designed to provide enhanced onboard comfort and service.”
So far, GOL has not scheduled any flights with the A330-900 aircraft, per Cirium’s Diio Mi. However, a previous analysis of European airport slot coordinators’ filings by The Engine Cowl showed that GOL had applied for slots at least three airports in Europe: Lisbon Airport (LIS), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and Porto Airport (OPO).
It only received slots at OPO.
“In an initial phase, up to five of the seven aircraft will be operated by GOL and two by avianca, reinforcing the Group's network and operational capabilities within the region and on routes to and from Europe and North America.”
In October 2025, Abra Group, the parent holding company of avianca and GOL, confirmed that it had entered into operating lease agreements with Avolon for five A330-900s and had signed a letter of intent (LoI) to potentially lease another two aircraft of the type from the aircraft lessor.
