LOT Polish Airlines, the flag carrier of Poland, has announced a direct flight from Warsaw, Poland, to San Francisco, the United States, which will become its sixth served airport in the US.

On November 13, 2025, LOT Polish Airlines announced that from May 6, 2026, it will open a new transatlantic route to the US, flying from Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) four times per week.

The flights will be operated by a Boeing 787-8, at least the inaugural one on May 6, 2026. An economy class seat on the inaugural flight between WAW and SFO is currently being priced at PLN 1,679 ($461), while the business class seat could set passengers back as much as PLN 6,617 ($1,817).

Planespotters.net records showed that LOT Polish Airlines has 15 787s in its fleet, eight 787-8 and seven 787-9s.

“The United States of America remains one of the carrier’s key long-haul markets, with growing potential for both business and leisure travel,” it said. Robert Ludera, a Registered Representative and the Director of the Network Department at the airline, added that in the past 12 months, 800,000 travelers flew on the carrier’s flights between Poland and the US.

“Not only will the new route connect the heart of Europe with the global hub for technology and innovation, but it will also open up new opportunities for both business travellers and tourists.”

In addition to SFO, the airline currently plans to serve five other US airports in May 2026, including another US West Coast airport, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), four times per week, according to Cirium’s Diio Mi.

The Polish carrier has also scheduled flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Miami International Airport (MIA), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and the aforementioned LAX.

Cirium’s Diio Mi showed that at least since 2000, nobody had offered a direct flight between WAW and SFO. However, the choice of flying to SFO seems logical not only because of the potential business traffic from/to Silicon Valley, but also because LOT Polish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance.

Also part of that airline alliance? United Airlines, which operates a hub at SFO and could potentially offer onward connections for the Polish carrier’s passengers, and vice versa. The US airline lists LOT Polish Airlines as a codeshare partner, with its customers being able to earn award miles and qualifying credits on eligible flights of the Polish carrier.

Before the pandemic, as well as for a short time after, LOT Polish Airlines had also offered flights from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) to JFK (ended in September 2022) and ORD (ended in October 2019).
