Lufthansa unveils more Allegris Boeing 787-9 routes from Frankfurt
Lufthansa's Allegris-equipped Boeing 787-9s are entering commercial service today.

Lufthansa has announced that its Allegris-equipped Boeing 787-9 aircraft, of which it currently has two, will fly from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to five destinations in Asia, North America, and South America, which include Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), during the upcoming winter 2025/2026 season.
In a statement on October 9, 2025, Lufthansa confirmed that not only its Allegris-equipped 787-9s would enter commercial service today on a flight from FRA to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), but also that the aircraft, which have the premium cabins, will also fly to AUS, Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG), Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD), and Rio De Janeiro Galeão International Airport (GIG).
Flights with Allegris-equipped 787-9s from FRA to BOG, HYD, and GIG are scheduled to begin in late October, while the widebodies should begin flying to AUS in December. Currently, Lufthansa flies between FRA and AUS with A330-300 aircraft.
Francesco Sciortino, the Frankfurt Hub Manager of Lufthansa, the airline, said that Allegris “has been enthusiastically received by guests who have already experienced it,” making the carrier proud that the premium cabin would be introduced on additional routes, and most importantly, from its “largest hub.”
Lufthansa’s Airbus A350-900s with Allegris cabins are based at Munich Airport (MUC), entering service in May 2024. The first Allegris A350-900 with a first class cabin arrived at MUC in October 2024, entering service on November 9, 2024.
However, Lufthansa’s booking engine showed that, for example, on a one-way departure from FRA to YYZ on October 14, only two business class seats are available for booking. On October 22, only three business class seats are bookable, including the two-person suite at the front.
When the German airline welcomed its first Allegris-equipped 787-9 at FRA on August 30, 2025, Jens Ritter, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lufthansa, detailed that the full certification of Allegris business class seats, specifically on the 787-9, would be completed by the end of 2025.
“Instead of further delaying the introduction of Allegris in Frankfurt, we use the time to facilitate cockpit training during the ramp-up phase.”

Cirium’s Diio Mi indicated that the German airline filed its departures on the FRA-YYZ route with only four business class seats, as well as 28 premium economy and 231 economy class seats.
Lufthansa teased that as it takes delivery of additional 787-9s in the next weeks, it would unveil new destinations for the Allegris-equipped widebodies. According to planespotters.net, at least four of Lufthansa’s incoming 787-9s had their first flights in 2024, with one, to be registered as D-ABQA, departing for the first time in January 2020.
