United Airlines has announced it will resume nonstop daily service between Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Caracas, subject to government approval. Starting August 11, the route will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
United Airlines becomes the second United States-based carrier to announce a return to Venezuela after American Airlines relaunched operations between Miami (MIA) and CCS on April 30, 2026. American's service is operated by Envoy Air on Embraer E175 equipment. A second daily frequency is scheduled to begin May 21.
United Airlines previously operated the Houston–Caracas route for more than 20 years before suspending service in June 2017. American similarly suspended flights to Venezuela in 2019 due to geopolitical challenges.
In addition to connecting into American Airlines and United Airlines' respective hub networks in MIA and IAH, both routes will serve sizeable Venezuelan communities. According to ZIPatlas, Florida is home to just over 50% of the Venezuelan population in the US while Texas ranks second with 14%. New York comes in third with just under 4%.
Separately, Qatar Airways announced on May 11 that it would also be launching new service to the Venezuelan capital. Starting July 22, the airline will launch a twice-weekly Doha-Bogota-Caracas-Doha triangle route.
